Class of '42
Intro
A headmaster should be firm, and fair, but never hearltess and cold. Edward Smythe was the latter.

Elderly 'old school British' gentleman facing his secretary holding up ties. Elderly but still athletic looking, slim, moustache, hair still short back and sides like in the forties. Mean looking.
"Which tie should I wear for the reunion? Striped or plain?..and do some work, you aren't paid to laze about!"

"Yes Mr Smythe will be the guest of honour at the Alveston Hall 60th anniversary reunion.........no I'm sure there won't be any mention of that. It was over 60 years ago....

Flashback 60 years, a much younger but still mean looking Smythe, full headmaster cape and mortar board hat, enraged look on his face holding his cane up threateningly shouting at a distressed looking young boy and girl in very worn looking clothes. Girl is very young maybe 4 or 5 holding a teddy bear.
"I said walk!, you listen to me and not the air raid siren. You evacuees have NO business being here. This is a PRIVATE school for the cream of English society not the likes of you!"

Cloak and mortar wearing young boys (around 7 years old) walking neatly in line to a building marked 'Air Raid Shelter' while raggedly dressed boys and girls walk fearfully and dejectedly toward building marked 'Gymnasium' Boy and girl are at the back of the line. Girl is holding her teddy bear loosely, her arm hanging down. Teddy bear is almost touching the floor. Air raid siren WAAIIILL in top left of pic indicating that it can be heard.

2 neat rows of boys in the shelter sitting opposite each other, Smythe in the middle and a huge BOOM!!! Smythe's mouth is open in shock and he's looking in the direction of the distant boom.

Totally demolished building, rubble everywhere. gymnasium sign can be seen on the floor next to a teddy bear..

Smythe "If they hadn't been here this wouldn't have happened, this is no place for the likes of them"

Smythe being presented with an award for something or other. APPLAUSE
"......and thank you all for attending, I wish you all a safe journey home"

Smythe's face looks startled , speech bubbles show "Hee hee hee" (childrens laughter)
"Who's there??, you should have left by now,...... I shall call the Police!

Smythe enters gymnasium, We see him from the front, look of terror on his face. Ahead of him we see a line of childrens silhouettes, boys and girls holding hands in a semi circle as if surrounding him. One girl is holding a teddy bear (we only see the children from the rear)

Daytime, Ambulance and 2 paramedics carrying his body on a stretcher.
Policeman talking on his radio
"Yes Guv, looks like a heart attack, caretaker found him.....but you should have seen the look on his face....terrible it was......like he was screaming!

Group of children walking away from the gymnasium dressed in forties clothes, walking into an enormous bright light, the last two are a boy and girl holding hands.....girl is smiling, in mid skip and........holding her teddy bear.
