BACK FROM THE DEPTHS NEEDS YOU! (BFTD Comic Special Submission Guidelines)

This year sees the 25th anniversary of the appearance of Scream! comic on newsagents shelves. So we at Back From The Depths were thinking... What better time to pay tribute by producing our very own Scream! inspired tribute publication?

That's where you lot come in. Back From The Depths are looking for artists and writers to help bring this idea to fruition.

We initially plan to produce a 32 page "issue zero", which will be available to download for free in pdf format. However, we may stretch to 64 pages if we receive enough contributions, and this is the pagecount we'd be aiming for with any subsequent issues.

Ideal submissions should be horror orientated and must be weird or spooky to make the final cut. We are mainly looking for completed comic strips between 1-7 pages in length. Eerie illustrations and artwork along with interesting horror/comic articles, scary short stories, petrifying poems or anything just plain creepy will also be considered.

We'll also consider material previously published elsewhere, as long as the contributors own the copyright.

Completed artwork should preferably be A4 (21cm x 29.7cm) 300 dpi jpegs.

As this is a non-profit, small press publication, contributors will not be paid but they will retain copyright on any material submitted.

DEADLINES :

Scripts, articles and text submissions : Saturday 25th July

Artwork : Saturday 10th October

Completed strips : Saturday 17th October.

The finished issue will be available online on October 31st.

I'm a writer (I've done various things such as Doctor Who, Highlander and, er, Power Rangers) but can't really draw, so any artists want to team up?

Would love to write a script for this. Time to get brainstorming. But I'd probably also need an atrist to bring it to life, so anyone interested in teaming up drop me a line... providing I can come up with an idea. I may even adapt one of my short stories or screenplays... Hmn - time to get cracking - not much time left to the deadline and time FLIES!!...

Hello, Paul. I think it was decided we'd avoid using the original recurring stories from Scream! to keep Egmont off our backs. They've been a bit reluctant to let people use their copyrighted characters in the past, even for non-profit fan-made stuff.
